I (French) will enter Vietnam by land from Thailande with my wife (Russian)in middle January for about 1 week. Is that process valid and (or) restricted to some check points??

Be kindly informed that Vietnam visa on arrival is applied to those travelling to Vietnam by air ONLY, not by land. If you enter Vietnam by land, please directly contact the nearest Vietnam Embassy to apply for your Vietnam visa.
